There are millions of television shows that offer lessons to learn. In my lifetime I have found that the true lessons are found not in one episode, but through the entire life of the show. These are the top 10 lessons I have taken from T.V..
10. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy, even after the end of all ends, proves that without your friends by your side things are going to look pretty bleak.
9. Supernatural
Supernatural gives us a break from our mundane lives and teaches us not to trust anyone, even our closest friends and family or your neighborhood Arch Angel. Remember when demon possessed Sam went after Bobby and we discovered Bobby spikes all his beer with holy water because HE DOESN”T TRUST ANYONE! That’s what I’m talking about!
8. Bonanza
Bonanza teaches us that yes, a single dad can raise a family, a fine, decent family with strong morels and backbone. It also shows us that as a family not everything goes according to plan, remember the episode where half the Cartwrights were almost shanghaied? They eventually got out of it, but that’s the magic of television.
7. Dexter
Dexter gives us hope; even with a dark passenger there is still a lot of good that can be done, and he just looks good doing it.
6. Firefly
Firefly taught me even though I’ve lost the war, there’s still a reason to keep fighting. It may be with an unlikely bunch, and there will be a few mishaps and broken hearts, maybe even an impromptu marriage along the way. In the end, you may, just may win, but you will need one awesome mechanic.
5. The Beverly Hillbillies
You never know when you’ll strike it rich, and it doesn’t mean it has to change you. The Beverly Hillbillies should teach us to always be true to who we are, let nothting change you.
4. Law and Order SVU
Sometimes the good guys win, sometimes they lose but more importantly Benson and Stabler show that a strong relationship doesn’t have to include sex or mean that it will lead there.
3. The Jersey Shore
We should NEVER EVER, be like this. It is wrong on so many levels, and parents be aware of what spoiling will lead to.
2. The Addam’s Family and The Munsters
These two classics show that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that ignorance is bliss. What we don’t know is sometimes and often times good for us.
1. Touched by an Angel
I did not chose this for the obvious reasons inspiration, high emphasis on God through the Christian faith, or helping those in need. Hidden between the lines in an episode ever one in awhile there is a character that appears, his name is Andrew. Andrew is the Angle of death, he comes as a friend, not to be feared but to be greeted openly. Too often we YOLO because we fear death, in reality, even in sudden situations the suffering is not from death but from life.
